Town of West Sweden- Monthly Meeting

April 18, 2017


Meeting was called to order by Simon Nelson at 6:25 pm. Members present Scott Wilder and Glenn Meier, supervisors; Phyllis Wilder, clerk; Brenda Tesch, treasurer.


The minutes to the March meeting were presented by the clerk.  The board thanked the clerk for the report.  

 The financial statement for March was presented by the treasurer. The board thanked her for the report.


Public input:  None


Employee report:  Kevin attended a meeting in Rice Lake regarding how to get money from repairs. Beavers are on Clam Falls Drive, 180th Street, 175th Street and Bloom Lake, also have problems on 120th, may need to replace culvert.   Kevin and Scott attended a meeting in Turtle Lake about road maintenance safety.  Kevin is attending MSHA training on April 20. All equipment is working well.  Gary Olby has requested a new fire number.

Ambulance report: Annual meeting is April 26, 2017.


Unfinished Business:

A.      Salt Sand Shed: Glenn reported that no new bids have been received.


New Business:

A.      Set date for Road Inspection:  Monday, May 1, 2017 at 8:30 am, meeting at the town hall.

B.      Board of Review:  June 20, 2017 Open book before the meeting, regular meeting to follow.

C.      Oath of Office: The clerk performed the oath of office for the supervisors, chairman and treasurer.


Correspondence:   CenturyLink will be laying fiber optics this year in the town; Town Official workshop in Rice Lake on May 9, 2017; weight restrictions have been lifted in Polk County as of April 17, 2017; WTA meeting is April 27, 2017 at the Govt Center.


Motion made by Glenn, seconded by Scott to approve the payment of bills check# 16788 thru 16801 and payroll and ACH payments totaling 9704.82.


 Next meeting will be May 16, 2017 at 6:30 pm.
