Town of West Sweden- Monthly Meeting
February 21, 2012
Meeting was
called to order at 6:32 p.m. by Chairman Simon Nelson. Present at the meeting: Simon Nelson,
Chairman; Scott Wilder and Glenn Meier, supervisors; Phyllis Wilder, Treasurer
and Kevin Taylor, patrolman. Absent, Andrea Lundquist, Clerk. Audience present was Wm Johnson IV, Tim
Norsted, Steven and Tamara Larson.
The minutes
of the last meeting were presented by the treasurer in the clerk’s absence. No
adjustments were recommended. The town board thanked the clerk for the report.
The
treasurer presented the monthly report. The town board thanked the treasurer

Public Input:
A.
Tamara Larson discussed her plans
to open a wild animal rescue habitat at the Hinschberger property located at
1502 300th Ave & Hwy 35 south of Frederic. Dr. Suzanne Johnson will be having a non-
profit vet clinic there as well. The request is to have the zoning changed from
agricultural to commercial. David
Wondra, Frederic Village Administrator, has asked the Larson’s to submit a
letter to the village asking to be considered being annexed to the
village. Property is approximately .6
acres. The board expressed that the zoning changes will have to follow the
county guidelines as we follow them.
B.
Tim Norsted is considering purchasing 10 acres of land on 330th
Avenue. He has no plans to put a
building on the property and asked about culvert sizes for driveways. It was recommended that at least a 15 foot
culvert be installed.
C. Wm Johnson IV presented a new district map of
Polk County to the board; the Town of West Sweden is now all in one
district. Carole and Todd Wondra have
donated the 8 acres of land to Habitat for Humanity which is located at Park
Ave and Benson Road.
Old Business: The County is still talking of
putting a salt/sand shed in the industrial park in Frederic. Estimated cost is $120,000 with the county
paying 60%. No information has been
provided in writing at this time.

Employee Report:
A. Kevin reported that the salt sand
shed was inspected today.
B. The town pickup was damaged while
cutting trees on 330th Avenue on February 7th. The rear window was broken and the cab was
dented. Damage estimates are $4000, repairs will be done by Ed’s Auto
Body. The board stated that from now on any
accident/incident have a written report made on it by Kevin to keep on file and
that all supervisors are notified of the incident.
C. A1 Machine made some spacers for
the mower. Ditch mowing/clean-up has been done on 160th, 180th,
and by the Skol Haus.
D. Kevin
will attend the MSHA training on March 5th.
New Business: Discussion on keeping up on cleared roadsides included
possible long arm mower attachment for current mower and/or hiring more
roadside clearing to be done. To be discussed again at next month’s meeting.
Current
brush attachment to clear intersections this spring from sand would require a
new hitch for the plow truck.
Possibility on renting from the county, will
need to check on rates.
All bills
paid and approved.
The next
meeting will be Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 6:30pm.

adjourn the meeting was made by Glenn, seconded by Scott. Motion carried. Time was 7:45pm.
