Town of West Sweden- Monthly Meeting

January 19, 2016

Meeting was called to order by Simon Nelson at 6:30 pm. Members present Scott Wilder and Glenn Meier, supervisors; Kevin Taylor, patrolman, and Phyllis Wilder, clerk, Brenda Tesch, treasurer.

The minutes to the December meeting were presented by the clerk. The board thanked the clerk for the report.

The financial statement for December was presented by the treasurer. The board thanked her for the report.

Public input: None

Employee report: Thursday, January 14, John Deere came and inspected the mower for the extended warranty; there will be a $400 inspection fee. They took oil samples to check before approving the warranty.

We are currently using Laketown Township’s spare dump truck which was picked up on December 17. Kevin also reported that he picked up two more loads of salt from Polk County.

Old Business:

A. Update on dump truck: Glenn has been pricing trucks from 3 different dealers, 2 Internationals and 1 Mack truck. The dealers are from Madison, LaCrosse and Cameron. Meyer Sales in Cameron found 7400 International truck. Motion made by Glenn Meier to purchase a 2015 International Dump Truck with front plow, wing and sander with a 7 year/ 100, 000 mile warranty on motor and electronics. Simon Nelson seconded, motion carried. A special meeting is set for Tuesday, January 26 at 6:00 pm to adopt a resolution to borrow the money for the truck. Glenn will check with banks for quotes.

New Business:

A. Approve resolution endorsing Safe Routes to School Plan: Simon Nelson made the motion to adopt the resolution, Scott Wilder seconded the motion, motion carried.

B. Audit Clerk & Treasurer Books: Board approved the financial statements.

C. Review county zoning process for adopting County Zoning: Invite Tim Anderson the one of the next board meetings to review data and then set a public meeting.

D: Fire numbers: A few residents want to replace their fire signs; we will place an order from Rent A Flash. If we have damaged them we will pay for the replacement, if replaced for cosmetic reasons, the resident will be billed.

Correspondence: There is a Towns Association meeting, Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Polk County Government Center.

All bills approved and paid.

Next meeting will be February 16, 2016 at 6:30 pm.
